EMERGENCY SERVICES PAVILION
The Emergency Department at Indian River Medical Center: Providing Excellence in Urgent Care
The Emergency Services Pavilion, fully opened in May 2005, was 100% funded through philanthropy.
When patients turn to Indian River Medical Center for emergency care, nothing
matters more than the preparedness of our staff and facilities to respond to t
heir needs. The Emergency Services Pavilion was built to serve 60,000 patients
annually, replacing the former 25-year-old facility which had been designed to
serve only 25,000 but had been stretched in its final years to serve more than
40,000 patients annually. With three times the space of the former Emergency
Department, the Emergency Services Pavilion features 31 private acute and minor
care rooms, each with televisions and phones - plus a 4 bed oberservation
area and a new 8 bed Clinical Evaluation Unit.

The Emergency Services Pavilion was not only a much-needed facility expansion
for Indian River Medical Center, but was the first tangible symbol of the
transformation taking place at our community's hospital. It was a top priority
in the Indian River Medical Center master plan and became the first priority
for funding by The 21st Century Campaign for Indian River Medical Center.
Designed in the round, the Emergency Services Pavilion is a unique facility that
has gained significant attention for its innovation and technology. It includes
areas for isolation, trauma, observation, psychiatric assessment and a variety
of other specialized needs our community requires.
