Dr. Jay Midwall, Medical Director of Interventional Cardiology/The Heart Center

On December 3, 2007, The Heart Center at Indian River Medical Center welcomed another outstanding medical professional to its team. Jay Midwall, MD, joined the cardiac team as Medical Director of Interventional Cardiology, a position that was established in 2006 by Dr. Joel Greenberg. Dr. Midwall joins the IRMC team from Palm Beach County where he practiced for 20 years as a senior member of Palm Beach Heart Associates, a 10-person team with five interventionalists performing 2,000 interventions and an additional 3,000 diagnostic catheterizations each year. Dr. Midwall arrived in West Palm Beach in 1987 to establish the interventional cardiology program at JFK Medical Center.

"When interviewing at IRMC," explained Dr. Midwall, "I observed a wonderful physical plant, supportive nursing staff, enthusiastic laboratory personnel, and a motivated administration. I was impressed with a talented, caring and skilled medical staff. Since my arrival, my initial observations have been confirmed and strengthened."

Having completed his training at Cornell University, with his residency in cardiology completed at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, Dr. Midwall has become a well respected interventional cardiologist esteemed by his peers and much sought after by patients for his technical acumen. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition to his practice, Dr. Midwall serves as Affiliate Clinical Professor at Florida Atlantic University.

"My goal is to help grow the program to be the busiest and best cardiovascular program on the Treasure Coast," Dr. Midwall stated.
