"IRMC was our first choice for cancer treatment."
We've been donors to Indian River Medical Center for years. But it wasn’t until Bob was diagnosed with prostate cancer that we realized just how fortunate we are to have the IRMC Cancer Center right in our community.
Last year, as we were preparing to return to Vero Beach for the season, we received the shocking diagnosis. It could have changed our plans, could have kept us away from our beloved Vero Beach home. Thanks to the IRMC Cancer Center, it didn't.
Together with our urologist, we believed the IRMC Cancer Center – which meets the stringent standards of the American College of Radiology – would be the best place for Bob to receive the advanced radiation therapy he needed.
The center's new $1.5 million Brilliance CT® Simulator the Foundation purchased last year makes radiation treatment planning so precise that, even if a patient coughs or sneezes during a treatment, there won't be any damage to good tissue. This precise planning system, along with the latest radiation therapy techniques of IMRT and IGRT, made a tremendous difference for Bob.
Beyond the advanced technology, the Cancer Center has an incredibly kind, compassionate team of experts committed to patients and their families. We have such admiration for the staff and the doctors.
IRMC was our first choice for cancer treatment. We’re so glad the Cancer Center was there when we needed it.
Please join us in supporting IRMC. You never know when you’ll need our hospital.
Note: Bob and Rita Whiteman are Vero Beach residents and members of The Eagle Society at IRMC Foundation.
