The first tangible symbol of IRMC's transformation was the Emergency Services Pavilion, a top priority in the master plan and a project embraced by our donors. The ED took three years to plan and fund took but only 300 days to build, in spite of two hurricanes hitting Vero Beach during a three-week period in the midst of construction. The project was completed on time and within budget.
Designed in the round, the innovative and high-tech Emergency Services Pavilion replaced a 25-year-old facility which had been built to serve only 25,000 patients per year but was caring for more than 40,000 annually in its final years. With three times the space, the pavilion features 24 private acute care rooms, four additional beds, areas for isolation, trauma, observation, psychiatric assessment, decontamination, minor care, and a variety of specialized needs our community requires.
