Our goal is to raise $6 million by May 2020 so we can begin Phase 1 this summer. We'll begin with the Post-Partum/Surgical Unit, pictured in blue at right.
The footprint will remain the same but this major renovation will dramatically enhance Labor and Delivery, Postpartum/Surgical Care, Nursery, and procedural and testing areas. Reconfigured spaces will support evidence-based, family-focused models of care for mothers and babies, pregnant emergency patients, and gynecological surgery patients.
Labor and Delivery:
Modernization, privacy, and technological advancements are keystones of the upgrades in emergency/outpatient triage rooms and labor rooms. Relocation of the Nurses Station will provide immediate and welcoming attention for patients and families.
Post-delivery rooms will be enlarged and reconfigured to accommodate couplet care, keeping babies in the rooms with their mothers to promote bonding, and outfitted to accommodate family interaction and overnight visits. Surgical rooms and the nurses station will be fully refinished, refurnished and updated with current technology.
Unworkable in its current configuration, the area will be repurposed to include a 5-bed nursery for stabilization of newborns and respite care. Additionally, the redefined plan will provide dedicated work spaces for newborn testing and procedures, and nurses and support services.
