Many patients who suffer from aortic stenosis require aortic valve replacement as their disease progresses. But some patients with severe aortic stenosis often have conditions that increase their risk for traditional replacement via open-heart surgery. Fortunately for these patients, generous donors recognized the importance of providing a best practice option.
Through philanthropy, the Foundation was able to fund the minimally invasive alternative procedure known as transcatheter aortic valve replacement or TAVR, now available at the Welsh Heart Center.
